Why The Name 42Gears?

We get asked that a lot. We’ll answer in two parts 🙂

Machines can only move if every gear in a machine works together. We see our technology as coordinating the movements of many gears (people and devices) so the machines (businesses) they make up can function and thrive.

Science-fiction fans might recognize the number 42 as “the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything,” as postulated in Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. 42Gears’ technology may not be an answer for everything in life, but within the universe of enterprise mobility, we think our products are a great answer.
