How to Check the Status of Unknown Source Apps in SureMDM

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to guide administrators on how to verify the status of Unknown Source Apps through the SureMDM console.This helps organizations monitor and control applications installed from non-official sources, ensuring devices remain compliant with security policies and reducing potential risks associated with unauthorized app installations.

Prerequisites

  1. To have an active SureMDM Account.
  2. Devices to be enrolled in SureMDM.
  3. Applicable only for Android devices.

Steps

  1. Login to SureMDM Console.
  2. Navigate to Columns > Grid Columns > Enable “Unknown Source Apps” > Save


  3. Once the above column is enabled in SureMDM Device Grid, we can check the status of Unknown apps of all the enrolled devices:


Unknown Source Status: Blocked – which means the application installation from unknown source is blocked.

Unknown Source Status: Allowed – which means the application installation from unknown source is allowed
