How to enroll with the SureMDM Android Early Access Program

The SureMDM Android Early Access Program for SureMDM Agent offers you a simple way to try pre-release versions of SureMDM Agent and test drive our new features. The feedback you provide will help us identify and fix issues and make the software even better. Registered devices will automatically receive updates for the latest version of SureMDM Agent.

By enrolling in this program, you agree with and accept all of the 42Gears Early Access Terms and Conditions provided here.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to provide a guide on the enrollment process for the SureMDM Android Early Access Program, ensuring a seamless and informed onboarding experience for users.

Steps

Step 1: To enroll devices using Fully Managed device mode (Device Owner)

A) Using a QR Code

  1. Login to the SureMDM Console and click on the Enrollment option.
  2. Click on SureMDM Android Early Access Program at the left bottom corner.
  1. Click on QR Code enrollment and select “Device Owner (Fully Managed or Dedicated Device)” to view the QR code.

Note: GSuite will not be supported by a Managed Google Play account. Select a non-G Suite account.

  1. When a new device or factory reset device is powered on, tap six times on the Welcome screen.
  2. Connect the device to the Wi-Fi network.
  3. Launch a QR code reader and scan the QR code.
  4. Next, go through Google Services and Accept to go to the next screen.
  5. On the Android for Work screen, SureMDM Agent will be listed; tap Install. SureMDM Agent will start downloading.
  6. On Android Enterprise Configuration, select Skip Encryption and tap Next.
  7. On the Set Up Your Profile screen, tap Set Up.
  8. The device will enter kiosk mode with the SureMDM application.

B) Using Device Policy Controller ID:

  1. Take a new device or factory reset the existing device.
  2. On the language page, select the desired language and tap Start.
  3. Connect the device to the Wi-Fi network.
  4. Next, on the Add Your Account screen, enter email as afw#suremdm-beta and tap Next.
  5. Go through Google Services and Accept to go to the next screen.
  6. On the Android for Work screen, SureMDM Agent will be listed; tap Install. SureMDM Agent will start downloading.
  7. On Android Enterprise Configuration, select Skip Encryption and tap Next.
  8. On the Set Up Your Profile screen, tap Set Up.
  9. The device will enter kiosk mode with the SureMDM application.

Step 2: To enroll devices using Device Admin mode

A) Using a QR Code:

  1. Install SureMDM Agent on the device from the Google Play Store.
  2. Once installed, tap on the SureMDM Agent icon to open the app.
  3. On the SureMDM Welcome Screen, tap Get Started and select the enrollment type.
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions and accept all the permissions.
  2. Tap on Scan QR and scan the QR code.
  3. The device will enroll in the SureMDM console.

B) Using Account ID:

  1. Download the SureMDM Android Early Access Program version from the Google Play Store  (You need to register for the early access testing program)
  2. Tap on the SureMDM Agent icon to launch.
  3. On the SureMDM Welcome Screen, tap Get Started and select the enrollment type.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to enable all the app permissions.
  5. Use the below option to register the device manually.

  • Enter the SureMDM Account ID and click Next.
  • Configure the Server Path, tap Next and click on Continue.
  • On the Configure Device Name screen, select from the following options to set the device name:
  1. Set the device name manually.
  2. Use a MAC address.
  3. Use System Generated Name
  4. Use an IMEI number.
  5. Use a Serial number.
  6. Click Register

To revert to the production version of the SureMDM Agent application, initiate the non enrollment process for the device. Following unenrollment, proceed to re-enroll by downloading the production version of the SureMDM Agent application onto the device. This ensures a seamless transition back to the standard application configuration.
