SureMDM has now introduced a new feature in the SureMDM App Store for upgrading a specific inhouse application using apk file or the direct downloadable URL of the application which can be done for multiple devices by assigning the profile which has been configured in the console.
Purpose:
The purpose of this article is to guide on how to Automatically upgrade a specific Android app using the App Store in SureMDM (Mobile Application Management)
Pre-requisite:
- Should have the latest version of .apk file or direct downloadable link/URL of the application.
- Applicable only for Android devices.
Mobile application Management via App Store is streamlined with 3 categories:
- App Details.
- Assigned Profile.
- Device Details.
App Details: Steps to add the new version of existing application in the SureMDM Appstore.
1.Login to the SureMDM Console.
2.Navigate to SureMDM App Store > Android > Select the already available application that you want to be upgraded from the list.
3.Click on the “Add” button to add the apk file of the new version of the application.
We can see the App details such as the Application Name, Version, Version Code, And the number of devices this version of the application has been installed on.
Assigned Profiles: Steps to assign a specific version of the application to a Profile.
1.Select a version from the list as per your requirement and navigate to the “Assigned Profiles” Tab > Click on Assigned Profiles. (Select either an existing profile or a new profile as per your use case)
2.Choose a profile from the list and add the same. Once you add the profile, a prompt will appear as below:
After clicking on Yes, a prompt will appear to configure the deployment of the application, You can select the options based on your requirement and click on Add.
The prompt seen in the above screenshot explains that the assigned profile will replace the current version of the application and the same would be updated on all the devices in which the profile is linked (The devices which have the same profile applied will replace the current version of the application with the latest one as assigned automatically).
Note: This action will work for already enrolled devices where the application should be updated on multiple devices. For newly enrolled devices, the profile would work normally as designed.
Device Details:
Steps to verify the device details to which the respective apps is assigned via which profile along with the installed/deployed status of the Profile.
