Admins can allow or deny specific applications to function on an enrolled device.
Purpose
The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on how to add Apps to Blocklist or Allowlist on ChromeOS.
Prerequisites
- Blocklist Apps : Disables desired applications from functioning on Chrome OS devices and the app icon will not be visible on the screen for launching.
- Allowlist Apps : Allows only desired apps to function on a Chrome OS device and restricts all other apps.
Steps
Step 1 : To disable desired applications remotely on the enrolled devices
1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > Chrome OS > Add > Blocklist/Allowlist Apps > Blocklist Apps Configure > Add.
2. Choose the app from the drop-down list in the Application List prompt.
Note:
- While adding the app under the Blocklist/Allowlist policy the App ID is auto-populated when App Name is selected.
- Open Chrome Web Store and search for the app. From the result, Select the app. The last 32 characters present in the URL will be the App Identifier.
3. The selected app will be listed under the Blocklist Apps section.
4. Enter a profile name and click Save.
The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.
5. Go back to the Home tab and select the Chrome OS device (s) or group(s).
6. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.
7. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply.
Step 2 : To allow only desired applications remotely on the enrolled devices
- Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles >Chrome OS > Add > Blocklist/Allowlist Apps > Allowlist Apps Configure > Add.
- Choose the app from the drop-down list in the Application List prompt
- The selected app will be listed under the Allowlist Apps section.
- Enter a profile name and click Save.
The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.
- Go back to the Home tab and select the device(s) or a group.
- Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.
- In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply.
