Prerequisite
- Should have an active SureMDM Account.
- Devices to be enrolled in SureMDM Console and to be Online.
- This feature is supported on Linux devices with SureMDM Agent version >= 6.0.1.
- This feature is supported on Windows devices with SureMDM Agent version > 4.77.0.
- This feature is supported on MacOS devices with SureMDM Agent version >= 5.6.0.
Steps
A. How to monitor device uptime using a compliance job.
- Login to the SureMDM Console.
- Navigate to Jobs.
- Click on New Job.
- Select the operating system based on your use case/requirement.
- Once the platform is selected click on Compliance Job > Device Uptime > Configure > Provide a job name > Set compliance action to “Enforce Compliance” > Set compliance rule and out of compliance action and add the action as per your use case/ requirement.
- Once configured, click on save.
- Apply this to the devices that you would like to monitor the device uptime.
Sample Use Case: An IT administrator would like to monitor the device uptime remotely and would want to perform a reboot action at the end of each day, to prevent system lag issues on a macOS device.
B. Configure the Compliance job for monitoring the Device Uptime by following the below steps:
- Login to the SureMDM Console.
- Navigate to Jobs.
- Click on New Job.
- Select the operating system as macOS
- Once the platform is selected click on Compliance Job > Device Uptime > Configure > Provide a job name > Set compliance action to “Enforce Compliance”
- Set the Compliance Rules and Out of Compliance actions:
Note: While selecting out-of-compliance actions as “Apply Job”, a job must be created prior to adding it in the compliance action.
- Click on Save and deploy the job to the device. Once the device is out of compliance, a reboot action will be performed on the device.
Steps to generate a report for Device Uptime:
- Navigate to Reports.
- Select On Demand Reports.
- Search for Compliance Reports.
- Uncheck “Show all Compliance” – This report will provide details on whether all devices are compliant with mandated policies and best practices.
- Select a group and click on “Request Report”.
- The report can be viewed under “View Reports”.
