How to configure Firewall Settings for macOS devices

Admins can now configure the Firewall Settings on their MacBooks and manage the policies and rules through the console. The customer wants to configure the Firewall Settings on their MacBooks and manage the policies and rules through the console. The customer wants to block unauthorized connections from third-party apps or computers on their Macbooks to make them secure on the network.

Purpose

The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on how to configure Firewall Settings for macOS devices.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > MacOS >Firewall Profile.
  1. Enable Firewall : Allow configuring firewall policies.
  2. Block all incoming connections : The firewall blocks all sharing services such as file sharing, screen sharing, and media sharing if you want to allow sharing services.

4. Click on Add.

5. Choose any application from the drop-down list, and we can either allow or block the incoming connection.

6. You can also add a New App.

7. By entering the App name and Bundle ID, you can either allow or block the incoming connection.

8. Automatically allow built-in software to receive incoming connections : This can be used to receive incoming connections from any built-in software like FaceTime, Safari, Calculator, etc.

9. Automatically allow downloaded signed software to receive incoming connections : This can be used to receive incoming connections for any downloaded signed software, like SureMDM Agent.

10. Check to Enable Stealth Mode : Stealth mode prevents the router from responding to probing requests.
