How to Create a Chrome Web App Using Play for Work Through a Profile

Purpose

This article explains how to create and deploy a Chrome Web App using Play for Work through a SureMDM profile. Web Apps allow administrators to provide users with quick access to websites as managed applications on Android Enterprise devices.

Prerequisites

• Android Enterprise (Play for Work) configured in SureMDM.
• Administrative access to the SureMDM Console.
• A profile configured for Android Enterprise devices.
• The target device enrolled and managed through SureMDM.

Steps

1. Open the Existing Profile

1. Log in to the SureMDM Console.
2. Navigate to Profiles.
3. Open the profile that is currently installed on the target device.

2. Add a Web App to the Profile

1. Navigate to Profile > Application Policy > App Management.
2. Click Add.
3. Select Play for Work as the application source.
4. From the left pane, select Web Apps.
   
   

3. Create the Chrome Web App

1. Click Create Web App.
2. Enter the required details:
   1. Application Title
   2. Website URL
   3. Application Logo/Icon
3. Review the configuration.
4. Click Create.

The Web App will be created and added to the Play for Work application list.

4. Add the Web App to the Profile

1. Select the newly created Web App from the list.
2. Click Select App.
3. Configure the required application permissions and settings.
4. Add the application to the profile.

5. Save and Deploy the Profile

1. Click Save to update the profile.
2. Deploy the profile to a test device or the required device group.
3. Wait for the profile to be applied successfully on the device.
   
   

6. Verify the Web App Deployment

After the profile has been applied:

1. Open the application launcher on the device.
2. Locate the newly created Web App.
3. Launch the application.
4. Verify that the website opens successfully and functions as expected.
