Purpose
This article explains the steps to create and deploy a Network Fence job for macOS devices in SureMDM. Network Fencing allows administrators to automatically trigger specific jobs when a managed macOS device connects to or disconnects from a designated Wi-Fi network (SSID), helping enforce security and compliance policies based on network connectivity.
Prerequisites
- Access to the SureMDM Web Console.
- macOS devices enrolled and managed in SureMDM.
- Administrator privileges in SureMDM to create or modify jobs.
- Job is supported on Agent version >=7.9.0
Steps
- Login to SureMDM Web Console.
- Click Jobs and select macOS as the Operating System.

- Select the Fence Entered tab, click Add, and choose the job that should be activated when the macOS device connects to the specified Wi-Fi network.
- Select the preferred Alert Type for notification. Alerts can be sent to the device, SureMDM Web Console, or an email address.
- Select the Fence Exited tab, click Add, and choose the job that should be activated when the macOS device disconnects from the specified Wi-Fi network or connects to a different network.
- Select the preferred Alert Type for notification.
- Click Save, provide a name for the Network Fence job, and save it.
- Go to SureMDM Home and select the desired macOS device(s) or device group(s).

Creating a Network Fence job in SureMDM enables administrators to automate device actions based on Wi-Fi network connectivity. By applying different jobs when macOS devices enter or exit specified networks, organizations can strengthen security, enforce compliance policies, and reduce manual administrative effort through automated network-based device management.
