Purpose
SureMDM provides the ability to manage device storage efficiently by configuring the automatic deletion of older log files through Agent Settings.
The purpose of this article is to guide admins on how to Delete Older Log Files option in SureMDM Agent Settings. This setting helps manage device storage by automatically deleting log files older than a specified number of days while ensuring sufficient logs remain available for troubleshooting.
Prerequisites
- Target device(s) must have the SureMDM Agent installed and running.
- Administrator privileges to create or modify jobs.
Steps
- Log in to the SureMDM Console.
- Navigate to Jobs > New Job > Select Operating System > Android > Select Job Type > SureMDM Agent Settings.
- In the Agent Settings screen, locate the option Enable Delete Older Log Files and enable the same.
- Under Delete Files Older Than (Days), enter the number of days after which logs should be automatically deleted.
NOTE:
- Setting very low values (e.g., 1 day) is not recommended, as it may result in loss of important logs required for issue analysis.
- It is advised to configure a minimum retention of 5 days or more. The exact minimum retention period may be decided by the development team.
- Save the settings and apply them to the required device(s) or group(s).
Conclusion
Once the job is applied and the device syncs with SureMDM, log files older than the configured number of days will be automatically deleted from the device. This prevents unnecessary storage consumption while keeping sufficient logs available for diagnostics.
