How to disable Hardware Buttons on Samsung devices

SureLock and SureFox provide comprehensive lockdown by allowing organizations to disable an Android device’s hardware or physical keys.

Purpose

The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on the process of disabling hardware buttons on Samsung Android smartphones.

Prerequisites

  • Complete lockdown of hardware keys is available only on Samsung KNOX and a few of the platform-signed devices.
  • For other Android devices, the feature to suppress the power button is available.

Steps

Step 1: To disable physical keys or hardware buttons on Samsung KNOX devices using SureLock

1. Access SureLock Settings by tapping on SureLock Home Screen five times and using the secret passcode.

2. On the SureLock Settings screen, tap Samsung KNOX Settings.

3. On the Samsung KNOX Settings screen, tap and Enable Samsung KNOX.

4. Next, click Disable Keys.

5. On the Disable Hardware Keys prompt, select the desired keys and click OK.

Step 2: To disable physical keys or hardware buttons on Samsung KNOX devices using SureFox

1. Access SureFox Settings by tapping on the SureFox Home Screen five times and using the secret passcode.

2. On the SureFox Settings screen, tap Samsung KNOX Settings.

3. On the Samsung KNOX Settings screen, tap and Enable Samsung KNOX.

4. Next, click Disable Keys.

5. On the Disable Keys prompt, select the desired keys and click OK.

Step 3: To suppress the power button on Android devices using SureLock

1. Access SureLock Settings by tapping on SureLock Home Screen five times and using the secret passcode.

2. On the SureLock Settings screen, tap the Suppress Power Button/Keyboard.

3. Tap Done to complete.

Step 4: To suppress the power button on Android devices using SureFox

1. Access SureFox Settings by tapping on the SureFox Home Screen five times and using the secret passcode.

2. Tap SureFox Pro Settings.

3. On the SureFox Pro Settings screen, tap the Suppress Power Button/Keyboard.

4. Tap Done to complete.

Locking a mobile device and its hardware keys does offer a comprehensive lockdown, but it can be further strengthened with the use of mobile device management measures like real-time monitoring and remote management.
