How to disable the end user from adding or deleting an account on the device

In today’s technology-driven world, where personal and sensitive information is stored on various devices, ensuring robust security measures is of paramount importance. One significant aspect of device security is restricting unauthorized access and preventing potential threats.

In this regard, disabling the end user from adding or deleting an account on a device is an effective use case that enhances security and safeguards sensitive data. By implementing this feature, device manufacturers and administrators can mitigate the risk of unauthorized account manipulation, ensuring a more secure computing environment for users.

Purpose

The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on how to disable the end user from adding or deleting an account on the device.

Prerequisites

  • The feature is available only for Android devices.
  • Enrollment Methods: Device Owner (DO) and Work Profile on Corporate-Owned Devices (WPCO)

Steps

  1. Login to the SureMDM console.
  2. Navigate to the Profiles section and choose the Android platform.
  3. Click Add and select the System Settings tab.
  4. Click on Configure.

5. Navigate to or search for the option Disable Modification of Accounts and enable the same.

6. Save the profile.

7. On the Home screen, select the device.

8. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the profile and click Apply.

Note: On the device end, when the end user tries to add or delete an existing account, he will be blocked with a prompt as “Action not allowed”, as seen in the below screenshot.
