How to Disallow Autofill

In the digital age, smartphones have become an integral part of our daily lives, seamlessly connecting us to a world of information and services. One of the most convenient features offered by modern smartphones, including Android devices, is autofill. Autofill is a time-saving feature that automatically fills in forms and login credentials, eliminating the need to manually enter repetitive information.

However, as the importance of privacy and data security continues to gain prominence, concerns regarding the autofill feature have also emerged. Autofill raises significant concerns regarding the security and privacy of personal information stored on devices. By examining the advantages and disadvantages of this feature, we can better understand the implications of allowing or disallowing autofill on Android devices.

Purpose

The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on how to disable the end user from using the autofill feature on the device.

Prerequisites

  • The feature is available presently only for Android devices with OS 9 onwards and with SureMDM Agent v27.15.03 onwards.
  • Enrollment Methods: Device Owner (DO)

Steps

  1. Login to the SureMDM console.
  2. Navigate to the Profiles section and choose the Android platform.
  3. Click Add and select the System Settings tab.
  4. Click on Configure.

5. Navigate to or search for the option Disallow Autofill and enable the same.

6. Save the profile.

7. On the Home screen, select the device.

8. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the profile and click Apply.
