How to Enable or Disable Password Prompt for SureMDM App Store on Windows Devices

Purpose

This Knowledge Base article explains how to enable or disable the password prompt for the SureMDM App Store on Windows devices. This feature allows administrators to secure access to the App Store and prevent unauthorized installation or removal of applications.

Prerequisites

This functionality is supported only on SureMDM Agent version 6.18.0 or above

Steps

1. Create a Windows Run Script Job

  • Log in to the SureMDM Web Console.
  • Navigate to:  Jobs → New Job → Windows Run Script
  • Enter the appropriate script from the sections below.

2. To Enable Password Protection

Use the following script to enable the password prompt:

!#SureMDM ProtectAppStore 1 password 147258369

Note:

  • Replace 147258369 with the password of your choice.
  • The password must be added at the end of the command.


3. To Disable Password Protection

Use the script below to remove the password requirement:

!#SureMDM ProtectAppStore 0

Conclusion

Once the run script job is applied to the device(s):

  • The SureMDM App Store will prompt for the configured password before allowing access. (As shown in the below picture)
  • When password protection is disabled, users can open the App Store without entering a password.
