How to enable the developer mode on the device when the same is restricted by the IT admin

The administrator may want to use the developer mode on the device in order to take the bug report, enable USB debugging, revoke USB debugging authorizations, select debug apps, etc. from the console. Now SureMDM offers this by enabling developer mode on the device through the system settings option available in the profiles.

Purpose

The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on how to enable the developer mode on the device through profiles from the SureMDM console.

Steps

Step 1: Disabling the developer mode option on the device

  1. Log in to the SureMDM console.
  2. Navigate to the Profiles section.
  3. Navigate to the Android tab.
  4. Navigate to System Settings and click on Configure.
  1. Under Sync and Storage, Disable USB debugging and save the profile.
  1. Deploy the saved profile on the device.

Once USB debugging is disabled, the developer mode option won’t be displayed on the phone. And in the build number, we get a message that says “Action not allowed”.

Step 2: Enabling the developer mode option on the device

  1. Log in to the SureMDM console.
  2. Navigate to the Profiles section.
  3. Navigate to the Android tab.
  4. Navigate to System Settings and click on Configure.
  5. Under Sync and Storage, Enable USB debugging and save the profile.
  1. Deploy the saved profile on the device.
  2. Enable Developer Option by navigating to the Settings of the device. Further, tap on About Phone and Tap the Build Number seven times. A message saying you are now a developer will be prompted.
  3. Enable USB debugging.

Once USB debugging is enabled, developer options will be displayed on the phone.

And in the developer option, we get many options to take the Bug Report, Desktop backup password, etc.
