How to enroll a ChromeOS in SureMDM using the Google Cloud Console

Using Google Enterprise Enrollment, IT admins can simplify the management of the devices by enrolling Chromebooks into a SureMDM. SureMDM enables IT administrators to perform ChromeOS enrollment by following simple steps.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to provide a guide on how to enroll a ChromeOS in SureMDM using the Google Cloud Console.

Prerequisites

  • Before enrolling the device, users should perform a factory reset. 
  • The user needs to enroll the device in a Google Admin account.

Steps

Step 1: SureMDM Console Configuration (ChromeOS)

To configure the SureMDM console for Chromebooks, follow the below steps:

  1. Launch  https://console.developers.google.com/apis. 
  2. Login to your Google Admin account with your credentials.
  3. On the Home page, go to Credentials.
  4. Select SureMDM Dev from the drop-down list given at the top.
  5. Click SureMDM Chrome Sync.
  6. Add the SureMDM Server Path and click Save

Note: 

  • Your current account, test@42gears.com, might not have permission to do these steps. To continue, make sure you’re signed in to an administrator account.

Step 2: Enable “Chrome OS Device Management” from the SureMDM Account Settings.

  1. On the SureMDM server, click on Account Settings and select Chrome OS Device Management.
  2. Enable the checkbox and click Save.
  1. Enter your domain Email ID and Password, then click Allow (accept SureMDM to access your Google account).
  2. You will be redirected to Google and asked to log in with the domain admin account. Once the valid credentials are entered, it will successfully enable Chrome OS management.
  1. You can now enroll your Chromebook in the SureMDM Console.

To enroll in ChromeOS, follow these steps:

  1. Factory Reset the device.
  2. Configure Wi-Fi, click Next, and accept the terms and conditions.
  3. Click More on the Sign-in Page and select Enterprise Enrollment.
  4. Enter the G Suite domain Email ID and Password.
  5. Click Done.
  6. Enter your Email ID and password, and then click Next.
  7. Click accept and continue.

Access the SureMDM console and follow the below steps to sync:

  • Login to the SureMDM console.
  • Click Account Settings.
  • Click Chrome OS Device Management.
  • Check Enable and click Sync Chrome OS Device(s).

The device enrolled in the Google admin console should be visible in the SureMDM console.
