Purpose
The purpose of this article is to guide administrators through the process of migrating a WearOS device from Device Admin mode to Device Owner mode for comprehensive device management.
Prerequisites
- The Google Pixel Watch should be reset to its factory settings.
- No accounts should be added to the Android phone during the setup process for the Watch.
- USB developer enable.
Steps
To configure the WearsOS device into Device owner:
On Device Side:
- Power on your Pixel watch and choose your preferred language.
- Press the “Restart” button on the watch.
- Install the Google Pixel Watch App on your Android phone.
Install Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.wear.companion&hl=en_IN - Follow the on-screen instructions on your Android phone.
- Open the Google Pixel App and navigate to “More” > “Continue”.
- Grant”Location Access” permission by selecting “While using this app”.
- Grant permission for “Phone Calls” by tapping “Allow”.
- Select your device from the list of available devices.
- Pair your watch with your Android phone following the prompts on both devices.
- Tap “Allow” when prompted to grant Google Pixel App- access to your watch.
- Skip the “Sign in to your Google Account” page by clicking “Skip”.
- Agree to all terms and conditions by selecting the corresponding checkbox and clicking “Continue”.
- Allow the terms and conditions prompt by tapping “I Agree”.
- Wait for the prompt to add a Google account.
- Skip adding a Google account to your watch by clicking “Skip”.
- Proceed by clicking “Next” for the following permissions:
a) Set your wearing preferences.
b) Get help in an emergency.
c) Track your daily activity.
d) Understand your sleep for better rest.
e) Get heart rate zone guidance while running.
f) Take your running to a new level with advanced metrics.
17. Wait for the device setup to complete.
Your Google Pixel watch is now set up and ready to use.
A guide on how to configure Wi-Fi and enable developer options on your watch:
Ensure that Wi-Fi is configured on the watch.
1. Launch the Settings menu on your watch.
2. Tap on “About Watch” and then tap on “Software Info”.
3. Tap the “Software version” five times consecutively to enable the “Developer options”.
4. Navigate back to the Settings page and tap on “Developer Options”.
5. Navigate to Developer Mode>Wireless Debugging. Make sure ADB Debugging is ON. Tap on Wireless Debugging.
6. Enable Wireless Debugging and Check the check box of Always allow on this network and then click on Allow.
Here’s the guide on how to pair and connect your watch:
1. Tap on the Pair New Device option on the Watch.
2. Launch Terminal on your Windows/Mac Machine and Enable ADB.
3. Run the below mentioned command on the terminal by using the information from the watch.
adb pair <pairingip>:<port> <pin>
Example : adb pair 192.168.1.27:41521 227139
4. Once the watch is paired, Swipe left on the watch and Run the below command on your terminal by using the information from the atch
adb connect <connectionip>:<port>
Example :adb connect 192.168.0.27:46165
5. Now the watch is connected with ADB to your laptop/Macbook. Make Sure no account is created on the watch. The Next step is to Install SureMDM Agent. Use below-mentioned commands to Install SureMDM Agent and make it Device Owner post-enrollment.
6. Once the device is connected, you’re all set.
Your watch is now paired and connected to your computer via ADB over Wi-Fi.
7. Install SureMDM from the Playstore.
8. Open SureMDM Agent.
9. Grant all the permissions.
10. Enter Account ID and Server Path.
11. Click on continue.
12. The device will get enrolled in the console.
