Purpose
The purpose of enabling Force Turn Location on Windows devices is to ensure that location services remain active for tracking, compliance, security monitoring, and device management requirements. This setting helps organizations maintain accurate device visibility and enforce location-based policies across managed devices.
Prerequisites
The Windows device must be enrolled in Dual Enrollment mode.
Step
1.Click on Profiles in the console, then select Windows and choose New Profile.
2.Select the Restriction Policy profile, and Click on Configure.
3.In General Settings, search for Location, set it to “Force Location On,” then add a profile name. Save the configuration and deploy the job to the target device.
Before deploying the job, we can manually turn the location off and on, on the device end.
After deploying the profile, end users will not be able to modify the location settings on the device, as the change option will be greyed out – as the location will be turned on via the profile policy .
Conclusion
Enabling Force Turn Location (On/Off) ensures location services are enforced and locked on managed Windows devices. After deployment, users cannot change the setting, ensuring consistent tracking, security monitoring, compliance enforcement, and centralized device control.
