How to Lock Individual Applications Dynamically on Devices Using SureMDM

Purpose

To prevent unauthorized access to specific applications, SureMDM provides the Lock option. This allows administrators to secure apps by requiring a password before they can be opened.

Prerequisites

  • Device must be enrolled in SureMDM
  • Device should be online
  • SureMDM Agent installed and active

Steps

  1. On the SureMDM console -> Select the required device.
  2. Click on Apps and In the Application List window:
    • Locate the required application and Select the checkbox next to the app
  3. Configure Lock:
    • Checked → App will be Locked and Prompt for Password to Open it.
    • Unchecked → App will remain Unlocked.
  4. Click on Apply Changes.

Expected Results

  • The selected application will be locked on the device
  • When a user tries to open the app, a password prompt will appear
  • Default password: 0000



If you click Advanced Option after selecting the application, you can change the password to lock or unlock the application.

Conclusion

The Lock feature helps secure important applications by restricting access with a password. This ensures better control, especially on shared or business devices, and helps prevent unauthorized usage.
