How to manage websites within SureLock

Admins can now manage websites within SureLock, i.e., they can add, edit, or remove whitelisted URLs. This ensures that the end user will not be able to access other websites other than the mentioned URL. This feature can be done remotely from the SureMDM Console or manually from the device end.

Purpose 

The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on how to manage websites within SureLock.

Prerequisites

  • If a user does not have a SureMDM Account, the user should use Standalone SureLock.
  • If a user is having a SureMDM Account, they can use Integrated SureLock for the same.

Steps

Step 1 :How to manage websites within SureLock via the SureMDM Console

  1. Login to the SureMDM Console.
  2. If the SureLock settings are already configured, then navigate to the dynamic SureLock Settings job.
  1. Navigate to Manage Websites.
  1. Click on Allowed Websites.
  1. Now, click on Add URL and add the URL that you would like to be accessed.
  1. Give the Display Name for the URL that you want to display on the SureLock home screen.
  1. Make all the configurations as per your use case and click on Done. Below is a brief explanation of each configuration.
  • Allow sub-domains: You will be able to access all the subdomains that come under the parent domain category.

Example: “maps.google.com” is a subdomain of “www.google.com“.

  • Allow only this page: Will not be able to access any other page other than the allowed website.
  • Set as starting URL: Set this URL as the Home page.
  • Hide URL: Hides the URL on the SureFox Home page.
  • Error Redirections: If there is an error while loading the page, it redirects to this URL, i.e., it redirects all the error pages to this URL.
  • HTTP Basic Authentication: Allow Bypassing HTTP Authentication
  • Default Zoom Level: This option can be used to set the zoom level of the URL that has been allowed.
  • Icon: You can select the Icon that you would like to appear on the SureLock home screen. There are three types: Favicon, Default, and Custom.

Step 2 : Managing websites via Jobs by creating a new job if there is no SureLock Settings job configured

  1. Login to the SureMDM Console.
  2. Navigate to Jobs > New Job > Android > SureLock Setting.
  3. Follow the same steps as mentioned above (Steps 3 to 7).
  4. Once the website is added and all the necessary configurations are made, click on Done.

Step 3:  How to manage websites within SureLock from the device end

  1. Launch SureLock.
  2. Navigate to Manage Websites.

3. Click on Allowed Websites.

4. Now, click on Add URL and add the URL that you would like to be accessed.

5. Give the Display name for the URL that you want to display on the SureLock home screen.

6. Make all the configurations as per your use case and click on Done.

The added or allowed websites will be visible on the SureLock home screen.
