How to Prevent Drag-and-Drop of App Shortcuts from Notification Panel to SureLock Home Screen on Samsung Devices

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to provide guidance on restricting users from dragging and dropping application shortcuts from the notification panel onto the SureLock home screen on Samsung devices.

With the introduction of Samsung One UI 7, Samsung added enhanced multi-window and drag-and-drop capabilities that allow users to create app shortcuts directly from the notification panel. In kiosk or locked-down environments, this behavior may allow users to bypass intended device restrictions.

By configuring Samsung Knox settings within SureLock, administrators can disable the multi-window functionality responsible for this behavior and maintain a controlled kiosk environment.

Prerequisites

  • Samsung Device with One UI 7 or Later:
  • Device Enrolled in SureMDM:
  • Samsung Knox Supported Device:
  • Administrative Access to SureMDM / SureLock Settings:
  • Knox Permissions Enabled in SureLock:

Steps

  1. Open SureLock Settings and Launch SureLock Settings on the Samsung device or configure via SureMDM.
  2.  Navigate to Samsung KNOX Settings within SureLock configuration.
  1. Disable Multi-Window Functionality: Locate the option: Disable Multi-Window and Enable this setting.
  • This restriction disables Samsung’s multi-window and drag-and-drop capability introduced in One UI 7, preventing users from dragging application shortcuts from the notification panel to the SureLock home screen.
  1.  Apply and Save Configuration and Save the SureLock configuration.
  2.  Exit settings and relaunch SureLock if required.
  3. Verify that dragging application shortcuts from the notification panel is no longer allowed.

Conclusion

Samsung One UI 7 introduces enhanced drag-and-drop functionality that may allow users to add application shortcuts unintentionally in kiosk environments. By enabling the Disable Multi-Window option under Samsung Knox settings in SureLock, administrators can prevent this behavior and maintain strict control over the SureLock home screen layout.
