SureMDM makes remote management of enterprise-owned mobile devices quick and easy. Now, 42Gears has made it easier with the SMS commands option for SureMDM Nix Agent. Users can send SMS commands to a device running SureMDM Nix Agent to perform the following operations:
- Start/Stop/Restart SureMDM Agent.
- Start/Stop/Restart Wi-Fi.
- Make devices scream.
- Reboot the device.
- Launch an application.
Purpose
The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on how to send SMS commands to the SureMDM Agent.
Prerequisites
- Users can use any mobile phone, compose an SMS command in the correct format and then send it to devices running SureMDM Agent for execution.
Steps
SMS Commands for SureMDM Agent
Commands(case insensitive) | What it Does? |
suremdm$start$nix | Starts the SureMDM Agent service if it is not running. |
suremdm$stop$nix | Stop the SureMDM Agent service if it is running. |
suremdm$restart$nix | Restarts the SureMDM Agent service. |
suremdm$start$wifi | Starts the WiFi service if it is not running. |
suremdm$stop$wifi | Stops the WiFi service if it is running. |
suremdm$restart$wifi | Restarts the WiFi service. |
suremdm$start$shout$n | Starts screaming even if the mobile is in silent/vibrating mode for n seconds. Note: n specifies the number of seconds to scream. |
suremdm$start$shout | Starts screaming even if the mobile is in silent/vibrating mode for 20 Seconds. |
suremdm$stop$shout | Stop screaming even if the mobile is in silent/vibrating mode for 20 Seconds. |
suremdm$reboot$now | Reboots the device ( SureMDM Agent v6.45 onwards) |
suremdm$launch$app$package_name | Launch the application. Example: suremdm$launch$app$com.nix (SureMDM Agent v6.45 onwards) |
