Set an auto-update policy for apps and manage apps that users can install from the Play Store

The user may want to set the applications to be updated automatically on the device from the console. Now SureMDM offers setting the apps to be updated automatically through the system settings option in the profile.

Purpose

The purpose of this knowledge article is to provide a guide on how to set the apps to be updated automatically through a profile from the SureMDM console.

Steps

  1. Log in to the SureMDM console.
  2. Navigate to the Profiles section.
  3. Navigate to the Android tab.
  4. Go to the System Settings and click on Configure.
  1. Under Applications, Enable AE specific configurations.
  1. Now set the App Auto-updates to Always.
  1. Now save the profile and deploy it to the device.
  2. If the administrator wants to auto-update the application whenever the device is connected to Wi-Fi, then select the Wi-Fi only option under App Auto-updates.

9. If the user does not want the app to be auto-updated, then select the Never option in App Auto-updates under the System settings.

Step 2: In order to manage the apps that the admin wants to install from the Play Store

  1. Log in to the SureMDM console.
  2. Navigate to the Profiles section.
  3. Navigate to the Android tab.
  4. Go to the System Settings click on Configure.
  5. Under System Settings,  click on the Applications.
  6. Now set App Access in the Google Play Store to Allow All Apps.
  1. Only Allow-listed apps will be allowed in the Play Store if we select the allowed listed apps only in Apps Access in the Google Play Store.
  1. Now save the profile and deploy it to the device.
