How to use the Export and Import of Jobs and Profiles Plugin in SureMDM

Managing multiple Jobs and Profiles across different SureMDM environments can be time-consuming and prone to errors if done manually. To streamline this process, SureMDM provides a powerful plugin—Export and Import of Jobs and Profiles—which allows administrators to seamlessly transfer Jobs and Profiles, along with their folder structures, between SureMDM Enterprise consoles.

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to provide step-by-step instructions on how to use the Export and Import of Jobs and Profiles plugin in SureMDM.

Prerequisites

Only Jobs/Profiles with a maximum size of up to 500MB are supported.
The plugin is supported on SureMDM Styx version 1.26.0 or later.
Both source and destination SureMDM consoles should be of the Enterprise version.
This article explains the Profile Export/Import for Android devices.

NOTE:
Source SureMDM console – This is the SureMDM console where the jobs/profiles are already created.
Destination SureMDM console : This is the SureMDM console where the jobs/profiles must be imported to.

Steps:

Step 1: Install and Enable the Plugin on Both the SureMDM consoles

1.On the SureMDM console, navigate to Settings (Gear Icon) > Account Settings > Plugins > Manage Plugin > Select Plugin Store.

2.Locate the Export and Import of Jobs and Profiles plugin and click Install Now.

3.Once installed, go to the Installed Plugins tab and locate the plugin, click the three dots, and select Enable.

NOTE:
Perform the above steps on the destination SureMDM console where the Jobs/Profiles will be imported.

Step 2: Export Jobs/Profiles from the Source SureMDM console

1.Click the three dots at the top-right corner on the SureMDM console and select Apps Plugin.

2.Open the Export and Import of Jobs and Profiles plugin.

3.Select the Jobs/Profiles you want to export.

4.Click Export, then click Proceed.

5.The selected Jobs/Profiles will be downloaded as a .zip file.

NOTE:
Admins can export multiple Jobs/Profiles in a single zip file.

Step 3: Import Jobs/Profiles to the Destination SureMDM Console

1.On the destination SureMDM console, repeat the plugin installation and enablement steps as outlined in Step 1.

2.Click the three dots near in the top right corner of the SureMDM console and select Apps Plugin.

3.Launch the Export and Import of Jobs and Profiles plugin.

4.Click Import, then select Proceed.

5.Choose the previously downloaded .zip file.

6.Click Done. A confirmation message will appear stating: “Import Jobs/Profiles Successful”.

There are certain limitations while Exporting/Importing the Jobs/Profiles:

Jobs:

Install Application Jobs with “Use Apps From AppStore” enabled are not supported.

Profiles (Android):

Android Profiles with Android Management API are not supported.
Application Policy: Play for Work apps and System Apps are not supported.
Configuration Dependencies:
- OEM Config Policy and Mail Configuration require an Android Enterprise account linked to the SureMDM console.
- The File Sharing Policy requires Filestore support on the destination SureMDM console (only file attachments will be supported).
- Mobile Threat Defence (MTD) and ZTNA require relevant settings to be enabled in Account Settings with proper configurations.
